Greenbaum Interiors upholsteryThere are many reasons to change up the upholstery on your dining room chairs. Maybe you are deciding the change the decor of the room but you refuse to replace the chairs completely. Perhaps you had something spilled on the current upholstery that stubbornly refuses to come out. Or you may just be bored and looking for an easy project. No matter what your reasons are, we can help you reupholster your chairs quickly and easily.

Removal

The first step is to remove the current upholstery. To do this, you will need to remove the seat pad from the frame. Usually the seat pad is held on with screws and will easily pop off once the screws are removed. Then you will need to remove the board that is on the underside of the seat pad. Now you can remove the old fabric. The padding can also be replaced or reused if it’s still in good condition.

Application

Place the new fabric right side down and place the padding and cushion down on top. Now you will need to staple the fabric to the seat. Start with the middle of the front section followed by the middle of the back section. Work your way around the seat from there until the fabric is held firmly onto the seat. Replace the board and secure the seat back onto the chair frame.
